Nearly a year to the day since the release of the meagerly plotted but spectacularly eye-catching Transformers movie, io9 stumbles across a cache of unrealized concept paintings by the supernaturally skilled Tim Flattery. Pictured above, a transforming aircraft carrier makes one of those flight deck guys strike an action pose; and there's plenty more where that came from. Another concept gallery from compatriot James Clyne shows he's no slouch either.

Scott Amron has come up with a *clever* solution for our landfill problem. His "Trash Can Disappear" is a comment on the illusion that trash simply vanishes when shipped off to landfills. It's simple, thoughtful, and yeah, you could probably make one yourself, but why bother when this guy's got a whole ream - ahem - of great stuff to choose from. Janelle Kearsley, the Director of Strategy & Sustainability at Wal-Mart, <a href="walmart2.jpgtalks about the steps this Big Box is taking to integrate sustainability into their business operations. Sift through the corporate speak and fast forward to her story about vending machines at the end. That's right, WalMart saved $1.2 million in energy by following an employee's suggestion to take the light bulbs out of it's Coca Cola vending machines in break rooms. One small step for refreshment, one giant leap for Mr Walton.
