Touch-screen kit for Aspire One and Eee PC 900/901 hits eBay, no soldering required

You know you've made it when your little-laptops-that-could sit atop a market-share big enough to support third-party device-hackery like this. It's "easy," it's "fun," it's a solder-less DIY touch-screen kit made specifically for the Acer Aspire One and Eee PC 900/901 netbooks. The 4-wire, resistive panel display with Mac, Linux, and Windows drivers sure looks easy enough to install. But we'll wait for the reviews to see just how well the $96 panel (a cool 25% of the netbook's price) performs under day-to-day use, thankyouverymuch. We've got our Windows 7 pre-beta ready just in case.

[Thanks, Joe L.]

RED teases some more in preparation for November 13th

This is just mean. With 10 days to go before Red goes official with its Scarlet and Epic announcement, we get this image: a teaser for those of us already teased. Sure, it doesn't look like much now (don't bother looking at the EXIF: nothing), but it's enough to prompt RED Digital Cinema's CEO, Jim Jannard to write that "the most aggressive speculation will not come close to what we will announce Nov. 13th." Careful Jim, our expectations are already pretty high.

Victor Multi-Kill trap electrocutes mice, hates liberals

Posted by Thomas Ricker in BLOGROLL, MEDIA

Daaaamn... this Victor Multi-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap is serious business. Normally we prefer more humane, wired domes to cage our furry house guests as they grab for the rich dark-chocolate morsels that tempt the palate of elite city-mice. We then release them into wee puddle-boats with tiny parasols to enjoy a feast of truffles glazed in a bit of saffron sauce. But all the gadgety goodness of this Multi-Kill trap makes us want to electrocute our pests into smoldering puffs of lifeless mouse just as Victor promises. The high-voltage shock is said to kill the mouse in 3 seconds followed by a swivel of the "Shock N' Drop" chamber to dump up to 10 carcasses into the collection drawer. "Population annihilation in just one night -- 100% kill rate guaranteed." Oh boy. Video after the break.
